Joy

Hi All!  Today's card was inspired by the Crafty Friends Challenge #13 -- Clean and Simple.  I recently discovered some circular alphabet dies that have been collecting dust since my early card making days.  Don't you just love when that happens?  The dies sure came in handy for this quick and easy card!

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafty Friends Challenge #13 -- Clean and Simple

Hope everyone has a great week.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Doodle Pantry Release

Happy Saturday!  Well, it's the first of the month and time for another new release by Doodle Pantry.  Laurie has added some great new sets to the store, and I chose to play with the new Bottles and Jars.  This set is  a joy to work with as the creative possibilities are endless.

Since I love to combine sets, I couldn't wait to fill the jar with peppermint candies from DP's Peppermint set. The candies were colored digitally. The label on the jar was made by combining an oval shape with a sentiment from DP's Candy Cane Ants.  I then colored the jar's lid with Irojiten colored pencils before cutting out the candy jar.   Embellishments include twine and a bow; a sentiment from DP's Nutty for You, which I punched out with a small tag punch; and tiny holly leaves and a rhinestone berry from my stash.  I have to say this was a lot of fun to make!

Next up is a gorgeous new set called Vintage Ornaments.  For a limited time this set is free w/purchase from December 1 through December 8.

Here's a quick, clean and simple card that I made using Vintage Ornaments. My card is a case of one I saw on Mary Fish's blog, Stampin' Pretty.  BTW, Mary's blog is filled with gorgeous inspiration. You really should check it out!

I hope you stop by Doodle Pantry to see all the new sets and beautiful samples made by the team. In addition, be sure to stop by the specials page to get the blowout sale coupon code for 35% off image products (excludes gift certificates)!

Thanks so much for the visit.  Have a great weekend!

Better Not Pout

Hi All!  I have two cards to share today that uses one of my favorite Santa images -- Sassy Cherly's  Better Not Pout Santa.  I was really surprised that a pre-colored digi image was included with the set. Although I love to color, I opted to use the pre-colored image to create some quick  and easy Christmas cards for my (seriously lacking) stash of holiday cards..  I merged the image on the first card on top of dotted digi papers from My Grafico,  For the second card, I also merged the image over digi paper -- this time I used holly digi paper from Doodle Pantry.

Although it's hard to see in the photos, I added lots of sparkle with glitter and a silver Spica pen.  I'm pleased with how these turned out and hope you like them too!

I will be entering these cards in the following challenges:
Sassy Cheryl's Show me #101 -- share something you can show us
Lady Anne's Challenge -- Anything Goes
Paper Cupcakes Magical Monday -- Sparkle, Sparkle, Sparkle

I hope you have a great day.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Winter Star

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the States.  Sorry I've been MIA -- I've been under the weather the last couple of days.   Fortunately, I'm feeling better in time to celebrate the holiday.

The card I'm sharing tonight showcases the beautiful image and digi paper from Doodle Pantry's Winter Star.  This set comes with both outline and colored images.  To make my card, I used the colored image and merged it on top of one of the digi papers from the same set.  I also added dimension by cutting out parts of the image and layering them on top.

The best part about this beautiful set is that it's free with purchase through November 24!

In addition, Laurie is having a blow out sale from November 21 thru January 3 -- 35% OFF IMAGE PRODUCTS (does not include gift certificates).  To read more about the specials, click HERE.

Have a wonderful holiday and thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!

Reindeer Trio

Hi All!  Hope everyone is enjoying their day.  Today I thought I would share one of the projects I have been working on.  Since I find teenagers very hard to buy for, I opted to dress up cash for the teens on my Christmas list.  Above is one of the money holders I made.

The fun image is Reindeer Trio by Bugaboo Stamps.  My computer-generated sentiment was merged on top of the image. Sentiment on the inside is by MDS/SU!. Coloring was done with Copics.  Although it's not apparent in the photo, I added glitter to the stars and glaze to the Christmas ornaments.  Just need to add a name tag and this one will be ready for gifting.

I will be entering this in the challenges:
Freshly Brewed Challenge #122 -- Lots & Lots of Dots
Nutcrafters Challenge #31 -- A Christmas Present
MIM #115 with Bugaboo Stamps -- Always anything goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!!

Little Deer

Morning all.  Today I have a card to share that was a lot of fun to make.  My starting point was the Sweet Sketch Wednesday Sketch #179-109.  All images, digi papers and sentiment are from Doodle Pantry.  I combined the sweet pre-colored deer from Little Deer with a hat from Santa Accessories Color Plus .  After grouping these images together, I merged them in front of a Snow Globe that I created and formatted in a Word document.  Next, I merged the sentiment in front of the snow globe's base.

The checkerboard background was created by combining 2 different digi papers from these sets -- Holly Stag and Little Deer. Embellishments include Flower Soft for "snow", and a jute ribbon and bow that I finished with a button from my stash.

I will be entering my card in the following challenges:
Craft us Crazy Challenge 30 -- Use favorite colors and/or Holiday theme.
Happy Campers Challenge No. 4 -- Use Bright Colours
My Heart Pieces Challenge -- Anything Cute
ABC Christmas Challenge -- V for Vibrant Colours

Hope everyone has a great weekend.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sparkling Winter Hills

Good evening, everyone.  Just a quick post tonight.  I have another card to share using PTI's Winter Hills. For this one I added lots of sparkle with the help of glitter.  Copics used to color and shade the image .  I also sponged the sky with Midnight Muse ink.  Then I added a coat of VersaMark to the sky before heat embossing with clear embossing powder.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Pile It One Challenge #35 -- Make It Sparkle
Glitter n Sparkle Chalenge 5 - Anything but a square/glitter n sparkle

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Enjoy the rest of your week.

Winter Hills

Happy Saturday and the night we turn back the clocks... I must confess that I am not a big fan of the short days of winter, but I do love using snowy scenes for Christmas cards.  This one is perfect for a friend who owns a home in Garrett County, Maryland where they received 2-3 feet of snow as a results of Hurricane Sandy.  Yikes!!!

Now don't be shocked, but I actually did some stamping -- this snowy scene is from Papertrey Ink's Winter Hills set.  I used Copics for coloring, and added a touch of pastels to the sky and dots of glitter for snow.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Fairy Tale Challenge #53 -- Monochrome with Dies and Punches

So glad you were able to stop by for a visit... thanks so much and have a great day!

Lively Leaves

Good Morning!  It's the first of the month and time for a new Doodle Pantry release.  Laurie, has outdone herself with a fabulous collection of new sets which you won't want to miss.  Today, I am showcasing the new Lively Leaves digital set.

I colored the trio of leaves with Copics before sponging on a variety of inks in different colors.  Then I covered the leaves with VersaMark ink before heat embossing with clear embossing powder.  After doing some fussy cutting, I adhered the image to the card's base with dimensionals and embellished with some buttons.  Very simple and fun to do.

I will be entering this card to the following challenges:
2 Sister Challenge #115 -- Halloween or Fall colors
My Sheri Crafts Challenge #97 -- Fall colors and at least 3 embellishments
Crafting For All Seasons #39 -- Falling Leaves

Thanks so much for your visit.  Be sure to stop by the Doodle Pantry Blog at noon today when a new Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge goes live.

Snow Globe

Greetings from Columbia, Maryland!  Am pre-posting this post today, October 29, in case we loose power or internet service due to Hurricane Sandy.  Hope everyone on the East Coast stays safe and just minor damage/flooding occurs.  So far, we are experiencing heavy rain and wind gusts.  The peak of the storm is suppose to hit us between 6 PM and 2 AM.  If all goes as planned this post will appear on my blog at noon tomorrow, Oct. 30.

Now about my card... This fun image is by Doodle Pantry.  It's one of the snowmen from the Quirky Snowmen set.  I thought this image would be perfect combined with a snow globe.  Since I didn't have one, I decided to try making my own.  Talk about easy peasy... Here's what I did:

I opened a Word document, inserted a circle for the globe and another shape for the base.  After doing some formatting to the shapes, I merged the shapes together, and the snow globe was done.  For this snow globe, I also filled the globe and base with Doodle Pantry digi papers by using the fill function.   Then I inserted my image and sentiment in front of the background papers.

I wrote a tutorial on how to create a digital snow globe.  This tutorial has been posted on Doodle Pantry's blog.  If you would like to view the tutorial, click HERE.

After I finished assembling my card, I decided to print  just the snow globe  (with no image or fill) on a clear transparency.  I then cut out just the 'globe" and adhered it to my card.  IRL, this step gives the look of glass.  However, if you decide to do this step, one word of warning... It's very difficult to take a photo w/o reflection of the overlay.  If you decide to add an overlay, I recommend doing this step after photographing your creation.

Thanks for stopping by.  Sure hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods!

UPDATE 10/30 -- I am happy to report that we did not loose power and came through the storm safe and sound.  My thoughts and prayers go out to those not as fortunate.

Snowman Star

Hi all, I have a soft spot for snowmen images, and when I saw this fun snowman over at Bugaboo Stamps, I flipped!  I couldn't wait to make a card.  The image is called Snowman Star and it's this week's Friday Freebie.  I think it's the cutest, and I really had fun playing with it.

I did some paper piecing both by hand and digitally; and colored and shaded the image with Copics, pastels and Irojiten pencils.  I used a variety of dies: plain and scallop rectangular dies from Spellbinders: Cloud border from Taylor Expressions, and a double-ended banner die from Papertrey Ink.

I will be entering my card in the following challenges:
Catch the Bug Bingo Challenge -- I used polka dots & paper piecing for things starting with "P", a button, and flower soft.
Christmas Crafting Challenge #15 -- Buttons and Twine

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and visit!

Little Lighthouse

Hi All, today I have a card  to share that uses the versatile Little Lighthouse set from Doodle Pantry.  I think this lighthouse image works for so many different occasions, and is perfect for making CAS designs.

For this card, I used the outline image and one of the digi papers from Little Lighthouse.  I just added some digital paper piecing and a touch of glitter to the waves, and it was good to go.  The sentiment I used is from a different DP set, Forget me nots.

I guess you could call this card an Operations Write Home wannabe...  Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the OWH Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge -- cards using black & white with a pop of red or green.  I thought my card would be perfect for the challenge until I remembered that glitter should not be used on OWM cards.  Definitely a learning experience.... I sure won't forget next time.

Hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Winter Wishes

Happy Sunday and the start of a new week.  I have been working on Christmas cards. ( I'm determined to not let things go until the last minute!)  Today I used Doodle Pantry's Winter Wishes Color set to make a window card .  I used the outline image  from the set and colored it with Copics and pastels as well as digitally.  The window die I used is the Grand Madison Window by poppystamps, Inc.  I created the valance with a bit of lace and a piece of seam binding (that I dyed myself) as well as a small poinsettia embellishment that has been in my stash forever.

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Totally Gorjuss Challenge 153 -- Traditional Christmas Colors
Guylou's Inimitability -- Use your favorite "fancy" die cut
Inspire Me Friday 80 -- Anything Goes

Hope everyone has a great week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Autumn Star

Hi All!  Today I am showcasing a beautiful new set, Autumn Star, for Doodle Pantry's release.  This set comes with both outline and colored images as well as digi papers and sentiments.

For my card, I used the outline image, and colored it with Irojiten pencils.  Then I shaded the outline of the image with a warm grey Copic marker and used pastels to shade the edges of the circle.  The "frame" was created by wrapping lace through the holes of an eyelet circle die cut.  (I used the largest Nestabilities Eyelet Circle die.)  Embellishments include small leaves that I punched out, and a paper-pieced bow adhered with dimensionals.

I will be entering my card in the following challenges:

Twick or Tweet

Happy Sunday!  Today's card combines 2 Doodle Pantry sets -- the new Piratey Ship and the older Pirate Birdie Color Plus to create a Halloween card for one of our newest family members.  Loving that we finally have some babies in the family!

As you may know, I like mixing and matching sets, and am tickled to have the birdie standing on the ship's deck.  (Just had to crop the bird's legs before merging.)  The sentiment is another mix and match --  "Twick or Tweet" from another  DP set, Birdie Bat, and "Matey" from Pirate Birdie.

I will be entering this card in the following fab challenges:

Quirky Scarecrow

Happy Friday!   Just a heads up to let you know that a surprise mini release has been added to the Doodle Pantry store; and I am thrilled to be able to showcase the new Quirky Scarecrow set.  This set comes with everything you need to create some fun Fall cards including outline and pre-colored images, sentiments, as well as 2 different patterned digi papers.

I combined one of the pre-colored images, digi paper, and a sentiment from the set to create a Center Step Card.  I started with a 5 1/2" X 11" sheet of SU! pumpkin pie cardstock to create the center step card base. Then it was just of matter of adding some green and yellow layers, before adhering my image and panels of digi paper.  Embellishments include layers of die cut 'grass', a flower and two buttons.  Very easy and fun to make!

Happy start to a new week!  It was a beautiful day here in Columbia with sunny skies, cooler temps and no humidity.  Yep, a new season is almost here.  With that in mind, I have a card to share that combines two of my favorite Fall sets, Let Us be Thankful and Maize Corn by Doodle Pantry

I merged the turkey from Let Us Be Thankful on top of the corn stalks from Maize Corn to create my scene.  Coloring was done with Irojiten colored pencil.  I distressed the edges with brushed corduroy Distress Ink;  then covered my image with VersaMark ink before heat embossing with two coats of clear embossing powder. Final step was framing the image with 2 different Spellbinder dies.

Oodles of Poodles!

Greetings to all my blogging friends and team members.  Sorry I've been MIA.  Wish I could say that I have been on a fabulous vacation. Instead, I have been recuperating from bunion surgery, making it hard to craft when you have to take it easy and keep your foot elevated.  I am glad to report that I'm back to crafting just in time for release day at Doodle Pantry!

For today's DP release, I got to play with the adorable new set, Poodles of Fun.  This set comes with both outline and colored images, sentiments and digi papers; and the best part is that this set is free with any purchase until Sept. 24.  In addition, from August 31 through September 9, there is a special Doodle Pantry sale going on -- take 35% Off your entire cart contents, excluding gift certificates.  Click here to get the necessary codes.

The samples above showcase the Poodles of Fun set which I merged with other Doodle Pantry sets.

  • First card in the next row combines a party hat, gift box and sentiment from Birthday Accessories Color Plus.  I paper pieced the gift box and party hat digitally and also altered the color of the hat to match.  Digil paper used is also included with the Poodles of Fun set.

As you can tell, I love to mix and match sets --  something that is easy, fun, and helps stretch your crafting dollars.  Laurie's Doodle Pantry sets make 'mixing and matching' a snap to do.  I highly recommend you give it a try!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
